Where's Johny

So today, I talked to Johny (who said he would be changing his name soon

(not his real name, just his blog name. (It's kind of like in foreign language class when everyone chooses a new name.(so what's your blog name?)))) and he said that he would post today. He only has 2 more hours left and I don't know if he is going to make it.

I'm trying to post this by emailing the post to the super secret email address. We'll see if it works. (It didn't the first time. I've changed some things and we'll try it again.)

Our little Frances has learned to stand herself up in the crib. That makes it hard to get her to take naps.

Mom and Dad joined

Yea! M&D joined the blog. Now they can create posts too.

They appear to have ignored my suggestion to join as seperate people and created the user pajf.

So welcome pajf.

I probably would have chosen japf because it looks like japh (short for just another perl hacker) but I don't think M&D know Perl.

Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon Rolls

3/4 cup milk
1 egg
3 cups bread flour
3 tbls. sugar
1/2 tps. salt
4 tbls. butter or margarine
2 tps. active dry yeast
-or-
1 1/2 tps. fast rise yeast
Put in bread machine according to your machines directions. Program select for DOUGH

Filling:
1/3 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp. ground cinnamon

When dough is done, remove dough and place on floured surface. Knead dough about 1 minute, then let rest for 15 minutes.

Roll dough out intoa rectangle about 15x10 inches. Spread the melted butter over dough then sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon on. Can add chopped nuts. Roll dough up tightly on long side. Press edges to seal and form into a 12-inch long evenly shaped roll. With knife, cut into 1 inch peices. Place the 12 rolls into a greased 13x9 inch baking pan. Cover and let rise in warm, draft-free place until doubled, about 10 to 45 minutes.

Bake in preheated 375 degree oven til golden brown. I find it takes 15 minutes. Recipe says 20 to 25 minutes but I think that is too long. Cool and drizzle powdered sugar icing on top. 1 cup powdered sugar with 1 to 2 tbles. milk and 1/2 tsp. vanilla.

Apple Crisp

            Apple Crisp

1 stick of oleo or butter
1 cup of flour
1 cup of sugar

Using a pastry blender, cut the butter into the flour/sugar mixture.

Peel and slice enough apples in a square pan.

Pour the topping and back at 350 degrees.

Takes about 45 minutes to bake until the apples are soft. Check after 30 minutes.

Notes: Oleo means margarin. It is not another word for butter, as is popularly believed (by me).

Cookie Sheet Apple Pie

             Cookie Sheet Apple Pie

Crust:
2 1/2 cups flour 1 Tble. sugar
1 tsp. salt 1 cup shortening

Other:
2 eggs 8-12 apples
1 cup cornflakes Milk
1 cup sugar 1 tsp.cinnamon

Glaze:
3 tbles. powered sugar 2 tbles. of milk

Mix like pie crust and add 2 egg yolks with enough milk to make 2/3 cup. Roll out half the dough to cover cookie sheet. Spread 1 cup of cornflakes over crust. Pare and slice fine 8-12 apples. Mix apples with 1 cup sugar, 1 tsp. cinnamon and mix well. Put the apples evenly on the bottom crust and cover with the balance of dough which was rolled out to fit. Beat egg whites stiff and spread on top of pie. Bake for 1 hour in 400 degree oven. (That maybe too hot so check earlier.) Mix 3 tbles. powered sugar and 2 tbles. of milk and spread glaze over pie while hot.

Mom's Recipes

Okay so if you haven't been here before (and you're in the family), here is a good reason to visit. Mom sent me some recipes and I thought I would share them with everyone.

On second thought, I think I will give each one it's own post.
